Automation and AI expertise will become an indispensable business function, not in isolation, but by influencing and amplifying every other function.

Building and scaling businesses in the past was difficult. For example, businesses used to have to build teams of sales and call agents. Modern sales and marketing tools changed all that.

Now, automation and AI agents are about to do the same thing that SaaS did, but on a far larger scale. We'll soon see very scalable "10x businesses" run by only a handful of people that were previously impossible. And our language will reflect that. We'll see roles like Chief Automation/AI Officer alongside Chief Operations Officer.

What happens then when every business has access to the same tools?

As always, we don't have a shortage of tools, we have a limited supply of problem-solving skills and strategic clarity. Tools will change, but strategic value creation and barriers to entry will continue to define the competitive landscape.

Automation: I "no-code tool" when I don't need to code, and code (or "serverless the code") when I do. Let your tools speak to each other and do the work for you.
